After an earlier career in private equity, Michael set up Ebbtide Partners (www.ebbtidepartners.com) in 2009. He utilises his experience gained in private equity to assist companies undergoing significant change, either as a result of strong growth, or alternatively, challenging circumstances. Appointments typically come from private equity firms, shareholders or lenders.

Geographical focus is on companies headquartered in the UK or Ireland, and whilst a sector generalist, areas where Michael has significant experience include healthcare services, leisure and business services. While most of his roles have been with private companies, he currently chairs Home REIT plc, where he was recruited to deal with a massive alleged fraud, and serves on the board of Big Yellow PLC where he chairs the remuneration committee.

Michael has a particular expertise in preparing businesses for exit, often in challenging circumstances. Recent successful exits of PE owned companies he chaired have included Dental Partners, Fortus (an Ireland based security products distributer) and Creative Car Park. Creditor led exits have included ASCO, BMI Healthcare, Park Resorts, LA Fitness and Cygnet Healthcare.
